12/18/22 Chaos Knights, Khorne Rituals, Imperial Guard Commanders, and more!

This has been a busy week! We got multiple games in this last week. Chaos Knights got another round of testing with their new Knight Abominant. Spells are being drafted up and decisions on the Volkite Cannon are being settled for the next testing. Knights also are switching from traditional Chaos Marks and Pure Blessings that did not translate as well as we would have hoped from the Chaos book, and are receiving Favour of the Dark Gods. Each Mark, including Undivided, has 2 options to pick from. The Knight Commander may take both from the same god!

I have long felt it incorrect that Khorne does not get any Spell Casters because he hates magic. This is not actually accurate, as he and his followers use magic to counter magic, rip tears in reality, etc. We are implementing a Sacrifice system for Khorne Casters. Each Caster starts with a number of Skulls equal to their Psychic Mastery. When Casting, they can sacrifice a number of friendly models to generate up to that many extra Skulls. The Rituals include the ability to summon Bloodletters through a Tear in Reality, allow units arriving by Deepstrike to Charge on the turn they arrive, Shroud units in Blood Torrents, grant themselves Extra Attacks on the risk of hurting themselves each time they roll a 1 To Hit, Deny the Witch with incredible strength, or earn their Ascension to a Daemon Host that bolsters their stat lines and heals the model fully as the more powerful Daemon rips its way into reality and takes the place of its host!

The Imperial Guard are at it again! Thanks to the help of some online community members, I found some old Tank Commanders and gear options from 2nd and 3rd edition.

Weismann is an Advisor in command of the Arethusa, an old Lucius pattern Baneblade! While locked in with weapon options, it boasts the Lucius upgrades and tradeoffs. Be warned! It has the Ill Fated rule, risking being stuck on any Terrain it touches, even if it destroys the Terrain Feature!

Captain Obadiah Schfeer is an HQ in command of the Steel Dog Alpha! A rip from Kelly’s Heroes, his Gryphonne Pattern Leman Russ Vanquisher is capable of Infantry Orders with its external speakers as well as its normal Tank Orders.

Colonel Snake Stranski is a Cadian HQ. He rolls into battle in a Chimera that is open to most of the usual upgrade options accompanied by his Command Squad. He dual wields his Plasma Pistols from the pintle weapon position while barking orders to his troops, while his Vox Caster, Standard Bearer, and both Meltagunners operate out of the back of the tank! He can give an Aura for a unit to act as if their transport had Assault Ramps due to his specialty in mechanized infantry. He cannot leave his Chimera until it is destroyed.

General Grizmund is Tanith First and Only Advisor from the early years of the Sabbot Crusade! He rolls into battle with his artifact Mars Alpha Leman Russ Battle Tank, the specialty armour giving The Grace of the Throne 18 Wounds! He uses his Standard Bearer to bolster the troops as he provides a bulwark against the most intense of enemy fire.

Gear options came to light as part of this exploration as well! The Imperial Guard now have a tenth Leman Russ turret configuration! The Long Vanquisher Cannon with Coaxial Stormbolter is from the Gryphonne pattern of yore, and makes for a hyper aggressive titan hunting build! This applies to the Leman Russ Squadron, Ragnorak Squadron, and Tank Commander.

In addition, the Baneblade Dozer Blade has returned! Granting them RMelee, S+1, AP2+, and Accurate, these melee weapons are bound to put a massive dent in your target! Good luck finding one though, they are incredibly rare kits!

Some Baneblade variants got some additional options for their Chassis! The very first Forgeworld Baneblades came in one of two patterns, Lucius Pattern, and Mars Pattern. Mars Pattern strip materials from the super structure to put massive gun shrouds on the Main Turret and Demolisher cannon. At the cost of W-2, these weapons cannot be disabled! The Shadowsword also received a Mars kit, and may upgrade to protect its legendary Volcano Cannon! If you prefer flexibility, the Lucius Pattern strips down its superstructure for a bigger engine, giving it M+2 at the cost of W-2. This may not seem significant, but it makes a big difference when getting places at M6. Also allows for a more aggressive Heavy Flamer build to put the pressure on your enemies and keep pace with your Leman Russ Squadrons. The entry for the epic 40k Stormhammer has been corrected to be the Lucius Stormhammer, as I found out with my research that is the correct chassis. Despite the initial W-2 penalty, it ended getting up to W28 from the extra main turret, but still maintains M+2! A kit build for the near future is planned with this model.

We got our battle from the week before uploaded! Valhallan Ice Warriors went up against Hive Fleet Kronos, that was incorrectly noted in the video title. Due to internet speeds and that we can’t correct the title, it staying as Hive Fleet Jormungandr on YouTube. It was a gritty game, with the respawning Conscripts nearly killing Captain Chenkov in revenge for slaughtering entire blocks of them! Valhallan Regimental Rules allowing models to shoot into Melee proved to be quite useful, despite completely obliterating the remains of a rugged Veteran Squad, the Tech Priest holding the Objective from the Gaunts, and the before mentioned massive Wound pile on Chenkov.

Some more Space Marine Characters have been completed despite the on going work with the other Codexes. Not too much to add here except that as always we can always use more play testing from the growing community that shares these rules! Feedback is always greatly appreciated and helps us achieve the best rule set possible!

Happy gaming everyone! Check us out on YouTube, Facebook, and Patreon in addition to this website for even more content!
