1/29/23 Imperial Guard, Space Marines, and Narrative

It is that time of the week again! We saw a lot of action and progress we wanted to recap for you!

For starters, the new Astra Militarum Codex is full of typos, balance cancer, and a massive loss of Imperial Guard units. But, it does have some new toys and a crucial phrase. All of these changes are now updated here on our website! See our Rulebook page.

The Basilisk model (and variants, and Medusas) have always been able to lower their cannons fully, but always had a massive 36″ minimum range. We had lowered it to 24″ to make it more playable. We finally snagged the lore snippet saying it can operate as an “Assault Gun”. This does not mean it is Assault 1, but rather the oversized shells can be used for point blank destruction, particularly useful in urban environments. Those models no longer have a minimum range, and we play tested it to try and break it. It ran smoothly, read Imperial Guard vs Tyranids 3000 points on our Narrative Battle Report page!

Lord Leontus has been added (and altered)! He is the only model capable of a reroll 1s To Hit and To Wound Aura in the entire codex! (Only Yarrick can do a reroll 1s To Hit). His S and W have been lowered, T raised, and other abilities altered to fit better. He truly is a Lord of Terra!

Ursula Creed takes after her dad. She can still issue a whopping 3 Infantry Orders, but not his 4 and does not have his 24″ command radius. She makes up for this by having very powerful pistols, a Powersword, and shaving off the Command Squad and by having a few other abilities.

Stonetooth Harker has been a bit light in the rules area, and I particularly liked him gaining Infantry Orders 1. We have implemented this and we feel he is in a better role now.

Rough Rider Sergeants can get a Goad lance apparently. So they can now take that, but as a Tesla weapon. Whoever thought tasers were great against grounded tanks is particularly dumb over at GW.

We are into the general 7th edition Space Marine characters. Ultramarines, Black Templars, and Imperial Fists are now receiving characters! There is so much lore to read on for these heroes, so progress is slow but worth it as we give lore accurate abilities to bring them to life on the tabletop!

Our latest narrative brought is to the edge of the Valour system, nestled in between Catacha and Tallarn. Our slowly building conflicts and manipulation by the Inquisition and Dark Angels (at the expense of the Imperial Guard of course) is leading to some key moments! Keep reading our narratives to find out!

As always,we appreciate your feedback and hope you join us on our adventure!
