It is that wonderful time of the week again already! This week has been productive but quiet for us. I finished transcribing the Space Marine Heavy Support, Flyer, Dedicated Transport, and part of the HQ to the Final Draft format! Chapter specific units and characters are pending completion of HQ, Advisors, and Chapter Rules but are planned for the near future.
We also hit 2800 man hours invested this week! It is daunting considering that Space Marines will be the fifth Codex to reach Final Draft status out of eighteen (encompassing all factions, many have been merged). Due to the care we are taking to avoid imbalances in the game, this will be slow work getting all Codexes done. That being said, Space Marines is one of the biggest ones out there. This will make the next few much easier to get through.
We have updated the main page for the website to reflect Games Workshop’s IP policy I found yesterday. For those who are wondering (including Games Workshop should they ever stumble across this website), we do not make any kind of profit off of this site or the rules. We do not even have Google AdSense.
In a few weeks my schedule conflicts with the other creators that contribute to these rules should free up, allowing us to start creating YouTube content again. Regardless of your rule preferences, our Battle Reports and other videos are there for your entertainment! I might even get to meet this mythical person known as Travis that has been play testing Chaos. Or even play with Jordan again, its been almost a year!
There is another project in the works. I have been creating games for friends and self for many years now, and this is the first game to be released for the the public to use. To kill several birds with one bolter round, I am on the side working on a d20 squad tactic game.
Bird number one is it would be nice to actually publish and sell a game and start a small business.
Bird number two is we are trying to find creative solutions for a few isolated characters and units that work and are balanced, but do not quite have the lore feel we are trying to capture. Frequently, I will go to another game system I have created to see how they would exist in that environment. Usually this alternative way of thinking gives me ideas on what to do for these models.
Bird number three is I get a chance to grow my experience and provide a more professional delivery for Alternate 40k Rules. With 2800 hours invested from just a handful of us, we very much want this to be the best it can be!
As always, happy wargaming! Seeing website traffic and social media responses is very encouraging and helps me remember that it is all worth it as I slog through Codex after Codex, searching for errors and ways to improve the game as much as possible.
