We were able to get a game in on 7/9 and test out the Space Wolves! Some minor syntax errors need correcting and then we can upload the Chapter Supplement to the website! That should happen in the next day or two.
Space Wolves gives your army Furious Charge and Wolfen Fury. Furious Charge is a core rule that gives you S+1 on the Melee Phase you count as Charging. Wolfen Fury gives your model A+1 on the turn it counts on Charging. Combine with Shock Assault that they all have which also gives you A+1 on the turn you count as Charging and you have a lethal combination!
Alex was our wonderful test squig as usual and played the Space Wolves. He ran two units of Wolfen and two units of Thunder Cavalry, plus some Tactical Squads which are always a solid choice. The Wolfen are berserkers that you have little control over, but they smash everything in their path! Thunder Cavalry proved to be incredibly durable as expected with their Stormshields.
The Thunder Cavalry naturally made it close on the first turn with their M12 stat. With advancing he got right in my face, so I went straight into close quarter firing with Meltaguns and such. As I got bogged down with the super tough Thunder Cav, the Wolfen came in right behind them. They also all had Stormshields, and even though their Sv is worse (4+ naturally, 3+ with Stormshield), they were able to take a lot of punishment.
Overall, a very good battle with a close ending! But no spoilers, that Narrative Battle Report should be out early this week. I took tons of photos, and want to build a good narrative that goes well with them.
Next up for play testing is out Black Templar Chapter Supplement. It is hot off the press and ready for testing before being published to the website.
