Its that time of the week again! This past week we got some great tests in with several of our Codexes.
Custodes have been published for a while. They have been tournament ready but have always been a touch bland with some of their unique characters. We have been running around ideas for a few months now and finally got some play tests in that confirmed we hit some good additions for them!
Trajann can send his entire Melee conglomerate into a Slowed stance, which is perfect for equalizing the field for Slow weapons. It does also mean not slow Custode attacks gain Slow as well, but it is a useful tool that sometimes bites in return for a low point raise!
Valerian gains an Aura that grants Tesla to Misericordias. This was an odd one, but it helps against hordes. Also, because it is restricted to their knives it does not get out of hand.
Aleya gained an ability to grant her and her unit Scout. This makes for a lot of flexible pregame options to get into position.
Lastly, Knight Centura (and Aleya) gained Fire Discipline, granting a form of Bolter Discipline as an Aura that effects all Rapid Fire # weapons. This allows Sisters of Silence holding rear Objective Markers to dish out a bit more bite for their steep point cost. We also bolstered the flexibility by granting the Knight Centura the Executioner Sword AND Special Issue Bolter instead of one of three weapons. She may still swap the Bolter for a Flamer as needed.
We had a great game busting out Traitor Guard against the Custodes! A Narrative Battle Report was shared earlier today about it. Had a blast, had no idea I was going up against Custodes, and really enjoyed the game overall. We found zero issues with the Traitor Guard and look forward to more tests with their Warband rules. Looking forward to running the Moebian VI from Darktide and the Blood Pact from Gaunt’s Ghost. Not finding any issues is not to surprising, as it is heavily based on the Imperial Guard Codex and it is by far the most heavily tested pillar Codex Alternate 40k Rules is based on. It forms the one of the three final gauntlet Codexes that other Codexes must balance against to pass to publication.
Khorne supplements were tested again as well, with some solid take aways. I had missed that Chaos Lords now have a sculpt of a Plasma Pistol and Thunderhammer, so I got the hammer added to their Wargear options.
Lastly, the 3d printing project for the Capitol Imperialis is halfway done! …with the left track. This thing is massive, and halfway took 4 rolls of filament with 257 hours and 46 minutes of print time so far. The last of roll 4 was not enough for a significant piece of the project area I am printing for, so I am trying out the totally not an Arvus Lighter file that came with it. I was able to squeeze all of the pieces on there in one build plate, and it should finish this evening! I’m excited to get my hands on some proxies at least, as the Forgeworld price is really high for a light shuttle. Someday, I hope to have an actual one for the collection, but proxies to fill the skies is never a bad thing!

Extra lastly, I’m still compiling pictures of Imperial Guard collections for a video series of our Imperial Guard Codex rules and strategies. If you want to have yours included please email your pictures to alternate40krules@gmail.com so I can keep them organized.
As always, happy wargaming!
