12/10/23 Grey Knights and Eldar

This week has been another good week for Final Draft formats! Grey Knights are ready for final stage testing. Thanks to the resounding success of the Space Marine Codex and prior testing has lead them to a great spot. Honestly its really just looking for confirmation rather than any concern at this stage of their Final Draft. We prefer to do our due diligence instead of untested rulebooks like GW.

Grey Knights bring an unforgiving array of weapons, with Wrist Mounts allowing their infantry to punish the foe much like Monstrous Infantry and almost every single unit getting access to Psychic Mastery. The best part is, they maintain all of the First Born marine traits, allowing them massive tactical flexibility to keep their foes on their toes.

Eldar are well on their way now! I have Troops, Elites, Fast Attack, and about half of the Heavy Support sections transcribed over.

The Eldar play an excellent game of specialization. They have fast Movement, high Initiative, and a wide variety of Rending weapons that allow them to confront most threats. Unlike in traditional rules, Rending can trigger on a 5+ in Alternate 40k Rules so long as it would legally work normally to Wound the target. This means that combined with their legendary Lance weaponry, all targets are viable for the majority of their weapons!

They also bring the fastest tanks in the game. Equipped with these excellent weapons, there is little that can resist them when caught in their strategic traps. They also gain access to the Harlequins like the Dark Eldar, giving them a hyper elite edge that can be played as well.

Lastly, most of their psychic powers are capable of targeting a friendly unit AND an enemy unit, boosting one and punishing the other. Combined with their high maneuverability, the Eldar can keep the fight happening on their terms when they are best suited to handle it. Overall the Eldar are one of the harder strategic armies to play (as they always have been historically), but it is coming together well balance wise and has a strong teamwork ability that can bring any foe to their knees!

As far as my Capitol Imperialis printing goes, the Forge World of Mars suffered a catastrophic failure and is awaiting replacement parts. The one time I did not check the print progress before going to bed, the printer gummed up. I was able to get one last print out of it, but after hours of maintenance I had to throw in the towel. Remember to check your printer folks, and do not let reliability relax you in your vigilance to the Machine Spirit.

Lastly, I am still compiling pictures of Imperial Guard (Astra Militarum) photos for my next YouTube video series of our Codex break down. If you want your units showcased please email them to alternate40krules@gmail.com. I am looking for collection pictures as well as individual units, models, and dioramas.

As always, happy wargaming! May the dice gods smile upon you and your glorious collections.
