This week has been a very satisfying one for me! I finished transcribing the Eldar Codex into Final Draft format! It joins out long line of Codexes awaiting their final play tests. Due to schedule conflicts and the small number of players I work with locally, we are just needing some last play tests with most of these Codexes.
Necrons got themselves their new model! Which of course is an insult, as it is basically just another wargear option, nothing more. In Alternate Rules, the Overlord may now take an upgrade that allows the Overlord and its unit to go into Reserves and immediately Deepstrike at the end of your Movement Phase. In our system, the Overlord is an Independent Character with the Infantry type, so he can join Infantry and Monstrous Infantry units. With this heavy level of flexibility, combined with the 4+ Cover Save units get when Deepstriking in our rules, this model’s unit will become highly adaptable.
The downsides to Deepstriking is you might scatter into terrain or models and Pin yourself, and you cannot declare Charges the turn you arrive from Deepstrike. With proper tactical planning, his unit will become very difficult to stop!
Also as a note, we have been able to thoroughly test aircraft by this point. I was afraid of making the same mistakes as GW with their Death from the Skies and like supplements over the years, so we restricted their Flyer slots to one model units. I have changed them to be one to three sized Flyer Slots now, including their Forge World Bomber!
Dark Eldar were accidently missing two Harlequin units. They got typed over during production. This has been corrected as well as a few minor typos some wonderful people helped me spot. As mentioned before, I make no money off of Alternate 40k Rules and cannot hire professional editors to help me check the formatting. So if any of you spot a typo, formatting error, or just need clarification, please reach out!
All of the other typos the local gamers were helping me with were detected in non published rule books. As part of the last play testing sequence, we also try to screen them for mistakes to minimize the confusion on your part.
The Capitol Imperialis project has run into some trouble. A very frustrated Magos had to order a replacement part for the Forge World of Mars. Highly embarrassing. The part became lost in the Bermuda Triangle’s secret cousin called California USPS. Every time a package is destined to the Midwest and comes through there, it bounces between two distribution centers for days before finally moving along. The part finally came in this weekend. But, the roll of filament I am using was defective from the factory. It was twisted, causing it to seize the reel and ruin the next part halfway through.
A very depressed Magos had to unwind nine million miles worth of filament and rewind it by hand to fix the twisting issue. For the fourth time, I am trying to get the part printed. I am getting close to done with the left track and cannot wait to show you pictures of it next to more models once it is done! The tracks are going to take a very long time, but once they are done, the parts become much thinner and it will be easier to show and see progress.
The Christmas season is upon us! May Da Red Gobbo grace your house with table top materials and adventures! As always, happy war gaming!
