1/28/24 Necrons, Eldar, and Adeptus Mechanicus

It has been another very productive and busy week! To start out with, a major core rule has been capped. After extensive testing, discussion, and introduction of additional high stealth based Codexes, Cover Saves can no longer get better than 3+. They can have as many modifiers applied as appropriate, but a 1 or 2 will always fail at best. We do not implement this lightly, as every edition of Warhammer 40k is massive and complex, and additional rules are hard to remember.

Necrons have had their C’Tan Shards shifted over to Lord of War slots! They come in with massive defense that makes it difficult to slay them. They are now giving off a much more lore heavy feel of being enslaved god shards and have been in many play tests since. Most of these have not been published as there has not been time to type up battle reports before too many games have gone by, but they have all been excellent!

Eldar continue to be tested. They are very flexible, capable of reacting to any situation with speed and precision! The Avatar of Khaine has performed well in his Lord of War slot. Prince Yriel is a force to be reckoned with thanks to his Daemonic Blade. Wraith units are highly durable, and the Phantom Titan while quite lethal can be killed if focused fired on, even in a normal sized game. It took most of the army to do so, but it was bled out over the course of the game, and would not have survived if the random game length had continued. At this point I am only concerned about the Howling Banshees, and hope to get that ironed out this week. They are high point cost for their defense, making them vulnerable to even the slightest losses and difficult for them to pay for themselves.

Adeptus Mechanicus joins the waiting que! They are revamped in Final Draft format, ready for robust play testing! I am excited to see them get the attention they deserve, as our very small group that is play testing these Codexes can only go through so many armies at a time. They have a lot of weapon options and are reasonably durable, capable of swarming the field with solid medium troops or versatile vehicles. Best of all, they bring the mighty Imperial Titans to the field, including the Emperor Class Titan and the Ordinatus of old! Out of all of the Epic 40k units, their city sized Ordinatus I am not for sure on how to bring into the game, but outside of those 3, they are available for play!

The Emperor Class Titan is the most formidable datasheet ever created. With the capabilities of ranging from the low 4000s all the way over 6000 points, it is sure to bring an apocalypse force to its knees as it glasses the battlefield with nuclear weapons and high volume missile barrages.

Speaking of, I have a custom built one that is in progress. It has been on hold due to the difficulty of getting it out of deep storage and working on it. I do hope to get it operational this year.

As always I appreciate your feedback, comments, questions, paint jobs, and pictures of your collection! The hobby is vast, and seeing players enjoy the universe of 40k warms my soul.
