4 Years, 4600 Man Hours, and 22,058 Downloads

These past few months have been very busy with life things. Redoing electrical wiring in the house has been a big one, disrupting what chances we have for the last play tests we need. But these are all good things that will help A4R be better at production and display.

First thing, we hit 4 years of A4R recently! The entire first year was done without announcement to the public as too much backbone work had to be done to even get anyone’s hopes up. We nearly have every Codex properly tested and released!

Second thing, we hit 4600 Man Hours. For an original core team of 3 players, this is pretty awesome! We have grown to 5 core players now, with several helping out and participating as well!

Thirdly, we are not even done with this year yet and we have staggering 14,210 rulebook downloads just from 2025 alone! I started this project just for my friends and thought someone else might be interested. I never expected this to be such a massive movement and its been incredible to see. You have to realize, that from website launch in 2022 to today there has been a grand total of 22,058 downloads. This year as seen more visitors and downloads then every other year combined, the multiplied by 2!

I do know a big part of this is having more and more codexes ready to go. But Looking at the stats today like I do at each A4R anniversary just absolutely blew my mind! We have been tagged on a website called Alt40.com, a great resource for finding additional options outside of the ones we are providing. It is Prohammer’s new website. I have never spoken with them that I know of and it was a really nice surprise to get recognition there! They have a ton of oldhammer and other homebrew rules available so go check them out!

If anyone from Prohammer is reading this, I would love to pool resources, get back into doing podcasts, that kind of thing. I don’t see a contact link on your sites of I totally would reach out. This is the kind of thing the community needs.

But enough about me! This wouldn’t be possible without my team of friends tolerating my hyperfocus and tism. Alex and Jordan both got involved at the same time. Both are awesome people! Alex is my mathhammer power player that tries to break the system while Jordan is my think out of the box idea guy. Between one player intentionally breaking it (an absolute necessity for stress testing rules) and the other one coming up with fun and bizarre ways to play (another absolute necessity for stress testing) we made an excellent core team!

Jordan is also my lore guy. He has read far more of the books than I have and is a wonderful fountain of knowledge.

Travis joined later on, helping us with Chaos and providing another set of insights for abilities, ideas, and helped round the team out. He has been a great source of testing and doesn’t mind being the punching bag for less than fun stress tests.

My Dad joined later on as well. We have played Warhammer together for decades. Once we got the project going he was more than happy to get onboard, even buy multiple Ork T-shirts and custom blast templates to fully get into the spirit of things. He has also been a valuable source of tactical and strategic factors and is more than willing to get his army shot up just for the fun of it to see if an idea works!

We have a few more recent new comers as well. Brent and Jonathan have made a few games. Both are excellent people and continue to broaden our perspectives.

Last but not least, hiding deep in the shadows of the internet, Gareth has been helping me reword and clarify abilities and find missing keyword definitions from a time when A4R had a mild data loss. Somethings got missed and need to be found again within the thousands of datasheets.

You are all awesome! Regardless of what edition or rules you play by, I hope you have the time of your life enjoying this hobby with me! As always, we love to hear your feedback!
