The Dark Angels were minding their own business when they were approached by a Chaos Dark Apostle and his merry men. And murder bot. The First Born listened patiently to the highlights of his offer. He offered eternal glory, blessings of power, a great dental plan, and to not be ripped apart by the Defiler. They questioned his sincerity, but after a brief discussion the Sergeant decided that they would see for themselves if they assisted in a small skirmish with some Necrons. The Redemptor Dreadnought and Defiler for the most part just stared at each other.

About this time the Necrons attacked with surprise, but not agility. The missionary effort saw them coming from a long way away, it just took them a while to get there, and they made the first move. Heavy Gauss weapons fired, Tesla weapons chained lightning, and ten Cultist that were unblessed by Tzeentch died. The Combat Walkers were unphased by the weapons unleashed on them. The Deathmarks struggled to hit anything, much like the Lokhust Destroyers. Perhaps the Death Watch had uploaded a virus into their matrix? Or perhaps the Chaos gods liked a rousing missionary effort.

In return, the five man Tactical Squad moved up and secured the objective the atomized cultists had been holding. The five man squad on the left split and began working on claiming two separate Objectives. The Defiler screamed something unintelligible in Daemon, but nothing was new there. It fired its Battle Cannon, two Reaper Autocannons, and its Stormbolter into the Necrons. Some fell over. None got up. The Redemptor advanced and fired its various chain guns and Stormbolters, knocking more Necrons over. These remained dead as well and began to trans dimension back to their home world amongst the pounding rounds all around them.

The Necrons, irked at their old hardware needing to reboot to install a mandatory security update during business hours, resumed marching forwards and shooting at everything they did not like. The east flank first born marines got hammered by deadly Destroyer Gauss weapons from above and several fell. The attempted fox holes worked somewhat, despite being rather difficult to conceal hundreds of kilos of super soldier wearing tank armour. In the Dark Angels defense, they were not as skilled in Shovel as the Death Krieg. Both antitank Gauss weapons were fired at the Redemptor Dreadnought. The Dark Apostle offered the protection of the dark gods to counter it. The rounds hit, went through the incredibly heavy plate, and the dark protection failed. Not amused about his primary brrrt gun and a Stormbolter being on the fritz, or his brand new ventilation holes, the Redemptor gave a 1 star Yelp review. “Was promised protection and glory. Frakking xenos weaponry went through it.” Further disintegrations chewed at the hull before the Skorpekh Lord charged into combat. He raised his mighty blade weaved it in an intricate death blow dance, bouncing off each time. The Redemptor chortled and smashed the Lord into the dirt with his Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon. The Skorpekh Lord, having lost its momentum, was ground into the dirt when it refused to retreat. It’s mangled body still worked, but just barely.

The Dark Angels rallied to this course of action. Securing all three Objectives on their side of the field, they continued to place bolt rounds into the enemy. The Defiler fired another broadside and instead hit a tree. In defense of the tree, it took it like a champ, the unexploded ordnance wedged in its trunk. Orders had trickled down to engage and destroy the enemy in close combat to demoralize them, so the Dark Apostle led his merry men of Blessed Cultists into combat with the remaining Immortal on their side of the field. Three cultists died from the chain lightning, but the Immortal suffered three fatal blows from the Power Sword wielding missionary. The Redemptor was fouled from its fit of destruction by the Skorpekhs shield generator. Then received multiple superficial impacts and retreated in great haste in surprise. The First Born snickered quietly to themselves as the big bad Primaris death bot ran off.

The Necrons, realizing they were losing battlefield supremacy, rallied to their Lord. Further rounds from above reduced the damaged First Born squad to a heavily wounded Sergeant. Deathmarks continued to trade fire with the Marines, but as of yet none of them had done any damage to each other. The Dark Apostle was killed with his men in a brilliant display of atomizing gauss weaponry. The Dark Angels cheered.

In response the Defiler came out of cover and began blasting away a the Skorpekh Lord. He was still heavily damaged despite his nanobots work to keep him alive, but he withstood the onslaught. The Redemptor rallied and prepared to charge. The wounded Sergeant finally got someone competent on the line, found out why they were there, and dropped the Lord with a single round from his Boltgun. Satisfied that their objective was complete, they sent the Redemptor into combat with the Destroyers. It never made it. Giggling like naughty schoolgirls, they fell back and went home to their mysterious Monastery to tell the other first born of the brave Primaris and the laughable powers of Chaos. The Defiler decided to smash things, but the marines left before seeing the Necrons teleport out. A lone and angry Defiler still roams the area looking for things to destroy according to legend. Rumor has it the death bot even made a hat out of the Redemptor remains and has incoherent and violent tea parties with it.

The battle was a draw with the Missionary Effort having 7 Victory Points to the Necron’s 6 Victory Points.
