Elysian Drop Troopers Showcase

My Elysian force is very, very old. They were discontinued long ago. If it was not for my good friends Simon and Jordan I would not have a playable force! I slowly managed to pick up two squads of infantry on eBay overtime for an affordable price, plus a few auxiliary squads. Right about the same time, Simon donated two squads all the way from Australia, and I was able to work out a trade with Jordan for the remaining infantry! I also had managed to pick up additional models to go with them as well. My scheme was based on Halo ODST marines. Lots of black suits, silver visors, blue lights, that kind of thing. I wanted the terrain they were on to be incredibly dangerous looking, and to make their dark suits pop in contrast. After considerable debate I picked a lava field theme, with a very heavy glow to emphasize the choking volcanic ash and smoke that they are battling in. As far as rare vintage armies go, this is one of the hardest to find, let alone afford. This army got priority of aircraft as they utilize very little armour.

In addition to the strong lava glow, I went with a heavy Nuln Oil ink wash to try a mimic actual volcanic ash affect on aircraft in real life. It is very heavy, and shreds turbine engines at an alarming rate, but I’m sure the overbuilt Imperial tech could take it for a bit.

Some day I plan on painting lava lines all over this tarp to really make the battlefield look as dangerous as possible.
My Platoon Command squad leading the way! Armed with a variety of short ranged weapons, their purpose is to quite literally blow a hole in the enemy lines using 2 Demolition Charges and a Meltagun!
4 Squads of basic Guardsmen to cover the field.
I was trying to be 8th edition compliant and put my Elysian Snipers on 60mm bases. Of course shortly afterwards they removed the datasheet so I kind of screwed myself over by doing so. Now each set of two guys just has a fancy movement tray. That they are glued to.
My Company Command Squad leading 3 Veteran Squads into the heart of the enemy! With 4 Demolition Charges and a Power Fist, they are going to make a massive dent!
Last 2 Veteran Squads. Each eager to teach the enemies of man kind a lesson!
Well after painting most of my Elysians, Alex (one of our founding players) found files and printed my Halo ODST squad. Some of them came out so I included them in the force! Since I was painting that scheme anyways, it just made sense to! Someday I will work on getting 3 Stormtrooper Platoons worth filled out, but that is way down on my priority list.
My Heavy Bolter Teams were super fun to paint! One of them during assembly had the freshly clipped Heavy Bolter yeeted into the Warp. I searched that room for hours. Even during moving over a year later I could not find it. The warp owns it now. I set up that model as having freshly lost it to a surprise lava flow, trapped with all the ammo in the world but no way of using it.
The Tauros vehicles were always some of my favorite. The one on the right is a 3d print I got in a trade, but I kept it anyways. With the Necromunda one just hitting pre order, I might be able to get more, maybe for my other Regiments if I’m lucky!
A Vendetta paving the way for 2 Valkyries to make a hole for troops to deploy in. I need to find a replacement canopy.
My Wing Commander prowling the skies for easy targets.
This was a joint birthday gift from Alex and Jordan (both awesome friends and the only reason Alternate 40k Rules is possible for me to write). Whoever painted this pilot and model did a fantastic job!
I have always wanted to bring 40 Punisher shots to the field ever since I got into the hobby! Now to just get 2 more Vulture Gunships so I can bring 120 S5 AP – and 9 S5 AP4+!
I am not particularly good a free hand, but the Emperor blessed the way the brush fell for this nose art. (Blessed as in its normally unpresentable lol)
The mighty Marauder Heavy Fighter looming towards the yummy enemy armour column.
How could someone not love this heavily armed model? It is glorious. I left it painted the way it came, but I did replace the missing missiles.
The Voss Pattern Lightning Strike on the right is painted in the Blue Angels inspired scheme in memory of my grandfather. He designed the F18 Hornet from scratch for McDonald Douglas, in addition to his other projects such as the first HUD for fighter pilots and modifications to the F15. I was going to paint this next to him on his death bed as a way to spend time with him one last time, but he passed the night before. Instead, this became a coping paint job so he can always be on the field as a way to remember him.
The Avenger Lightning Strike is the A10 Warthog of the Imperial Navy. I love how it reminds me of the N1 fighter from Star Wars, so I painted it like one. Just one that is covered in heavy amounts of volcanic ash.

Some stragglers late to the party! I got a third Valkyrie to lead my Valkyrie dedicated squadron. I loved the bronze base job so I just touched it up. I also found this fantastic Avenger Strike Fighter and liked the paint job a lot. Just need one more to flush out that squadron as well!
