Mordian Iron Guard Showcase

My Mordians were another lucky break through on eBay. Majority of the collection came from a large lot that is painted pretty well. I learned a lot working on matching them!

My Mordian get priority on precision crowd control weapons such as the Leman Russ Exterminator. They also get minimum priority on heavy armour as they are primarily a very violent police force. As such they have the Griffon Mortar tanks to deal with civilians.

Typical riot response is for the Cult Task Force (CTF) to arrive on scene in their Gorgon. If there is not room for an opening, the Gorgon’s hydraulic sledge makes one.

Next a shield wall is deployed. Bullgryn exit first with an equal mix of crowd dispersal for ranged and melee. Their immediate flanks are covered by two Combat Engineer Squads which can either spread the line further or tuck in depending on the terrain.

Green Team takes one flank, with the intent of pushing to enemy leadership.

Red Team takes the other flank with the same goal. Their highest value target ever claimed was a Tau Ethereal! He was defeated in melee, so in my lore they captured him.

Last out of the Gorgon is a Veteran Squad with Carapace Armor and Shotguns. A pair of Sniper Rifles is issued to Tan Team for watching the flanks. All have additional pistols as well. They act as a second wave if a lead unit falters. Eventually, I will get more Necromunda Enforcers, and the Chimeras will be repurposed for these squads.

The CTF is led by Commissar <redacted>. He oversees the entire CTF operations and has survived multiple encounters with the enemy by the skin of his teeth! He has claimed several kills against the Khorne flavor of Chaos, including a Berserker Champion!

The Chimera pursuit vehicles accompanying the Gorgon are outfitted for a wide array of encounters. The Chimerax ensures that rudimentary AA fire is possible while the more traditional Chimera offers high flexibility.

Last but not least is the Ratlings. Acting as urban pathfinders, these sneaky individuals keep an eye out for instigators and IEDs.

Out of the traditional rank and file, squads of Veterans act as second or third wave options for the CTF. Two typically follow close behind armed with Plasma weapons. One has a Minostorum Priest and Lord Commissar.

The other has a Lord Commissar and a Psyker. The Lord Commissar keeps close tabs on him, just to be safe. The Psyker may not appreciate it, but the guardsmen do.

A third standard Veteran Squad hangs back to provide long range fire support, act as an anchor if a retreat is necessary, and protect the Platoon’s more vulnerable assets.

The standard Imperial Guard Platoon backs the offense. Five squads of Guardsmen follow behind, with an additional two Commissars dispersed among them.

A Special Weapon squad with close range anti-armor weapons is safely nestled amongst them all.

The Platoon Commander watches the operations from his vantage point. He is there to issue orders to the Heavy Weapon Squads and provide their own bit of fire power.

The Platoon is issued a Squads worth of Lascannons and Heavy Mortars for fire support. Both are rarely needed during riots, but Genecults are uncannily resourceful, so it’s good to have options.

A Master of Ordnance accompanies the Heavy Mortars, but can also lend his expertise to the Griffon Heavy Mortars in a pinch.

A full squadron of Leman Russ Exterminators lead by an Exterminator Tank Commander winds its way through the streets, hammering away at any improvised barriers erected by insurgents. The steady barrage of accurate fire means they can also minimize damage to the vital infrastructure.

Last but not least is the mighty Shadowblade. Rarely ever used, this relic tank is only brought out grudgingly when it turns out the rebellion is not a bunch of angry citizens. This is by far one of my favorite tanks ever made!

An Enginseer accompanies it into battle, performing dutiful maintenance and repairs around the clock.

They might get a bit crispy if it fired right now!
